What is a Cath Lab Professional?

Cath lab professionals work in catheterization labs to help diagnose and treat cardiovascular conditions. Cath lab professions include:

  • Cath Lab Tech
  • Cath Lab RN
  • Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech
  • Interventional Radiology (IR) RN
  • Electrophysiology (EP) Tech
  • Electrophysiology (EP) RN

Your licensing protocol is dependent on your specialty.

These professions fall under Nursys licensure:

Cath Lab RN
IR RN
EP RN

These professions fall under ARRT:

EP Techs do not need to get a license for every state, but instead need to pass the Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) credential that needs to be renewed every 3 years.
